DAY 1

LIMA

Upon arrival you will be met by our representatives who will assist your transfer to the Hotel.
Overnight in the Hotel Belmond Miraflores Park.

DAY 2

CUSCO

You will fly to Cusco and upon arrival you will have a transfer to the Hotel. We suggest you drink coca tea and take it easy in order to acclimatize to 11200 feet of altitude.
In the afternoon you will have a tour to visit the most interesting ruins in Cusco:
Coricancha- a Dominican Monastery where the temple of the sun, the moon and the stars are located.  You will observe some of best architecture and rock carvings ever done.
Sacsayhuaman – This is a huge ancient fortress, which must have been Cusco’s main fortification.  It sits on a hill with an excellent view of the city of Cusco down below. Sacsayhuaman is the place where the famous Inti Raymi takes places every year during the winter solstice.

Overnight in Hotel Monasterio or the Inkaterra Casona de Cusco.

DAY 3

URUBAMBA OR THE SACRED VALLEY

You will depart Cusco around 7:30 AM and will drive down to the Sacred Valley, where you will have a rafting excursion down the Urubamba river, passing by Inca terraces before tackling the Ollantaytambo rapids. You will be going through number 3 and 4 rapids.
The Urubamba or Vilcanota river is one of the headwaters of the Amazon River; it rises in the Andes to the southeast of Cuzco.
The Rio Sagrado Hotel is located alongside the Urubamba Rivers, a beautiful place to rest and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the valley.

Overnight:  Hotel Rio Sagrado.

DAY 4

PISAC AND OLLANTAYTAMBO

You will visit the craft market of Pisac. On Saturdays the villagers often offer their products in the same way that their ancestors did through barter or exchange of goods, which is done in a festive manner like other Andean fairs. The site is also full of history and ruins that you will learn about. This is an extraordinary visit; offering trails of varying difficulty levels for walking and hiking.

After visiting Pisac town and ruins you will continue to have lunch in the Tunupa Restaurant and from there to the fortress of Ollantaytambo. It is well known as one of the largest archaeological sites in Peru. It is one of the few cities that still retain much of the original urban layout with some buildings still in use. Here you can discover the cultural and architectural duality of the Indians who lived there on both sides of the Patacancha river.

DAY 5

MACHU PICCHU. Hiram Bingham train

Early morning you will have a transfer to Poroy to take the Hiram Bingham train to Machu Picchu. You will enjoy an entertaining train ride until you arrive to the sacred city of Machu Picchu.
Machu Picchu is known as a sacred place, isolated from most of the common people, where only the virgins of the sun could live. The Inca Emperor would go there for special celebrations or for a retreat. According to other historians and more recent theory, Machu Picchu was an Agricultural University for the Incas. It is believed it was a place to learn about the stars, use of land, agricultural seasons and the planting of different crops in different microclimates.
In the afternoon we recommend you visit the watchman’s house, the Inca bridge, or hike up to the Sun gate, known as the Inti Punku.

DAY 6

MACHU PICCHU

Early morning enter the ruins to hike up Wayna Picchu hill.  It is important you are the Wayna Picchu entrance at the exact time as now it is very much controlled and different people can only enter at the time they have purchased the entrance.  The rest of the morning will be free to explore the ruins on your own.
Your train will leave Aguas Calientes at mid-day so you can visit Chincheros town on your way to Cusco.  In this village you will be able to see the mixture of Inca and colonial constructions. There you will have the opportunity to visit a local community organized by one indigenous woman who is keeping the traditional weavings and coloring of the fabrics.

Overnight in Monasterio or Inkaterra Casona de Cusco.

DAY 7

PUNO

You will have an early morning transfer to the train station to board an Orient Express train from Cusco to Puno.
Puno is located at the edge of Lake Titicaca, at 3860m (13000 feet approximately) above sea level.  You will cross the Peruvian Altiplano and enjoy magical views of the Andes and its people.
Puno is the region of Peru where they raise llamas, alpacas and vicunas, which graze on its immense plateaus and plains.
Upon arrival to the train station the Titilaka representative will offer you a transfer to the Hotel.

DAY 8

UROS, TAQUILE

Embark on a cultural journey and explore the islands of Uros and Taquile, and learn about their indigenous people and traditions. Meet local Uru people and learn about their customs and traditions on this floating island.
You will also visit Taquile islands, known for its friendly inhabitants, agricultural terraces and distant snow-capped mountains, famous for its tranquility and authenticity.

Overnight in the Titilaka.

DAY 9

TRANSFER TO LIMA

In the morning will have a transfer from Puno to Lima. On your way to Juliaca you will make a short stop at Sillustani Ruins which are pre-Incan burial ground on the shores of Lake Umayo near Puno. The tombs, which are built above ground in tower-like structures, are called chullpas.
Upon arrival to Lima you will have a driver available for 7 hours.  He will take you to the best shopping places in the city and for dinner in Calca Restaurant along the shores of the Pacific Ocean.

Meals: B. Lunch and Dinner on your own.
The driver will wait for you while you are having dinner and then he will take you back to the airport for you flight back home. (You will be able to leave your bags and belongings in the car.)
